Welcome to The Millennial Gamer

Have you ever caught yourself enthusiastically talking about video games or a new TV show you just watched? Do you (proudly) consider yourself a millennial? Then, you’re in the right place, my friend. Hi, my name is Panagiotis, but you can just call me Pit. I’m the creator of The Millennial Gamer and I think we have a lot in common.

Welcome to my website; a part personal blog, a part thought experiment on how millennial gamers consume media these days, and a small part personal ambition to work a bit closer with video games.

I can’t help myself talking, thinking, and almost eating, and breathing video games throughout the day.

I love video games to the extent that I’ve considered, for many years now, starting to write about them and put my thoughts into words. I have loved video games for almost as long as I can remember myself – from those early days of playing Pokémon Red in my Game Boy Color to owning every PlayStation console that has ever existed (except the Pro versions because I could never justify the cost to myself or my parents). Growing up, I went through many phases in my gaming habits, but over the last few years, gaming and geek culture in general have become a passion of mine.

I can’t help myself talking, thinking, and almost eating, and breathing video games throughout the day. And even though many of my friends share that passion I only realized I wasn’t doing as much of that as I’d like when I visited Gamescom for the first time last year.

So what’s a Millennial Gamer, anyway?

By now, you must be wondering what the angle of this website is. I’ve been reading various video game news outlets for many years now, and the one thing I’ve enjoyed most, especially since I hit my 30s, has been opinion pieces. With a full-time job and an increasing number of responsibilities vying for my free time, I found I couldn’t play every video game out there, no matter how much I cut back on my sleep. So, I have to be way more selective about which video games I would commit to.

Also, I’ve started seeing an increase in video game sites and content creators focusing solely on reviews and news reporting, and I’ve found that I’ve been missing reading about more opinions. It doesn’t help that I’m someone who’s trying to avoid reading reviews because I’m terrified of spoiling the game for myself.

It started to seem like talking about video games became way more about following a 24/7 news cycle about the industry and less of a creative outlet for video game developers and gamers alike.

Pairing that with feedback I’ve been getting from other millennial gamers out there about video games being time-feeding behemoths, I want to create a space that helps you decide your next video game. Look back at the success of games like The Witcher 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, and pretty much everything Rockstar develops, and you’ll quickly realize that playing even a couple of those in the span of 2-3 months would require almost all your free time.

Having a full-time job and an increasing number of other activities vying for a place in my free time, I found that I couldn’t play every video game out there, no matter how much I cut back on my sleep

Taking all of the above into consideration, I decided to create exactly what I’ve been missing: a place where a Millennial Gamer shares his experience playing video games, watching anime, TV shows, and other geek culture-related activities, and shares his opinion about them. I won’t deny that there will be the occasional review of a video game, or even maybe a live stream of a playthrough. But at its core, The Millennial Gamer is all about discussing, learning about, and generally appreciating video games as a hobby.

I hope you join me on this trip, and hopefully this website becomes your little corner of the internet that you can visit whenever you’re geeking out about a new (or old) video game and want to talk about it with fellow like-minded gentlefolks.

Welcome to The Millennial Gamer!
